The Policy

What it does

Amends the market name of genetically altered salmon in the United States.

Synopsis

The Genetically Engineered Salmon Labeling Act (HR 204) requires the market name of genetically modified (commonly called "GMO") salmon to include "Genetically Engineered" or "GE" in front of the existing market name.

Additionally, the Department of Health and Human Services must ensure that an independent scientific organization reviews and reports on the Food and Drug Administration's environmental assessment of AquAdvantage Salmon.
