Work with the Federal Government Relations team to increase Pfizer's presence and voice in the U.S. Senate. Work with Pfizer colleagues across business units and functions to develop Pfizer policy goals, formulate advocacy strategies and promote federal priorities with policymakers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

 

 

 

  • Lead Pfizer's outreach and advocacy with Republicans in the U.S. Senate; develop and maintain excellent working relationship with Members of Congress and their staff
  • Collaborate with FGR and other U.S. government relations colleagues to formulate policy positions and advocacy strategy on key issue areas of relevance to Pfizer, including health care, patents, trade, tax and budget issues
  • Collaborate with the FGR team to enhance Pfizer's role and presence in the federal policy process, including the development of federal legislation, regulation or administrative guidance
  • Work with the FGR team to drive Pfizer senior leader engagement in Washington, DC; prepare briefing materials, agendas and other materials to facilitate such engagement
  • Represent Pfizer at the staff level to influence policy and advocacy positions with key industry trade associations, organizations and other coalitions
  • Assist and support Pfizer business units and other functions in the development and execution of public policy strategies and tactics to advance their specific objectives and ensure objectives represent a one Pfizer approach
  • Lead key issue responsibilities for the FGR team, working in conjunction with the team to proactively advance or mitigate harmful legislation in Congress
  • Research and prepare advocacy materials, comments, testimony, legislation, and internal and external communications related to Pfizer's policy goals
  • Develop and implement strategy for political action committee (PAC) giving for Members of Congress in key advocacy area; work with the Pfizer PAC team to drive colleague engagement and participation in the Pfizer PAC
  • Maintain superior knowledge of Pfizer's business unit operations, leaders, product portfolio and pipeline to drive engagement on federal issues

 

 

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

 

Bachelor's degree required. Law degree and/or Master's degree a plus. Minimum 10 years experience working in a relevant position with the federal government, state government or for a corporation, trade association, or non-profit organization that develops policy, conducts public education and advocacy and lobbies.

 

 

Other qualifications:

 

 

 

  • Strong experience in policy development, relationship building, political communications and messaging, and PACs;
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the legislative and political process;
  • Preferred experience working with the Senate Finance Committee, Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee, Senate Judiciary Committee, Senate Budget Committee and Senate Appropriations Committee;
  • Strong communication skills required;
  • Ability to develop an argument and persuade an audience;
  • Work collaboratively with a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders;
  • Excellent judgment, assertiveness and diplomatic skills; and
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work as part of a high-performing team
