Job Profile

 

The Research Associate will conduct policy-related research and evaluation studies in the areas of health care program evaluation and research, including such topic areas as Medicare, Medicaid, and other public health insurance programs; aging and long-term care; health plan performance and quality measurement; health information technology; and comparative effectiveness analysis.

 

Responsibilities

 

Design and conduct research projects, including:

 

  • Conducting quantitative analysis of CMS and project data.
  • Developing conceptual models.
  • Developing experimental designs.
  • Collecting and analyzing large data sets.
  • Performing policy analysis.
  • Developing case studies.
  • Conducting site visits.
  • Writing technical reports and proposals.
  • Making presentations to government clients.
     

Qualifications

 

Education, Knowledge and Experience

 

  • Ph.D. degree or 10+ years of relevant experience with Master's degree.
  • Must possess subject matter expertise or content knowledge in quality improvement.
  • Strong SAS programming skills preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of Medicare claims data.
  • Intermediate-level statistical experience.
  • Capacity to work independently guided by research questions from team or CMS.
  • Ability to explain approaches and results of analyses orally and in writing to clients and technical experts.
  • Experience in leading proposals and preparing reports.
  • Experience in process analysis, evaluation, and experimental research design activities.
     

Skills

 

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative skills.

  • Ability to lead major aspects of a project.
  • Capacity to work independently guided by research questions from team or CMS.
