Hearing: Big Data Challenges and Advanced Computing Solutions

The House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, Subcommittees on Energy and Research and Technology, will hold a hearing titled "Big Data Challenges and Advanced Computing Solutions." The purpose of the hearing is to explore the impact of innovative machine learning-based approaches to big data science challenges at the Department of Energy (DOE), in academia, and industry. This hearing will also address the development of these applications within the context of the DOE’s mission goals in high performance computing.

Witnesses include:

  • Dr. Bobby Kasthuri: Researcher, Argonne National Laboratory; Assistant Professor, University of Chicago
  • Dr. Katherine Yelick: Associate Laboratory Director for Computing Sciences, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory; Professor, University of California, Berkeley
  • Dr. Matthew Nielsen: Principal Scientist, Industrial Outcomes Optimization, GE Global Research
  • Dr. Anthony Rollett: US Steel Professor of Materials Science and Engineering, Carnegie Mellon University
