The Infectious Disease Health Educator will develop plan and implement education, materials and activities to promote prevention of infectious diseases to healthcare professionals and individuals within Arizona. The responsibilities for this role will include but not limited to; planning trainings and the annual Arizona Infectious Disease Conference, development and publishing of the Epi-AZ newsletter, social media calendar tweets, assist in updating OIDS websites, talking points for various diseases and coordinating outreach educational activities. The Health Educator will represent the agency and the Infectious Disease Office at internal and external meetings related to educational efforts; facilitate training sessions for infectious disease related webinars and other events; write professional and public documents; and work at and attend meetings at alternate locations; often as an exhibitor and/or presenter; this may require in and out of state travel.

 

Responsibilities include: –

 

Organizing and communicating important infectious disease information and issues to the public and healthcare providers throughout Arizona –

 

Representing ADHS and OIDS and provide education to stakeholders and at outreach events –

 

Routinely update and maintain educational materials and assist program managers with maintaining the OIDS websites –

 

Assisting in developing educational information, trainings, and evaluation of educational activities as needed by each OIDS program based upon target audience, mode, methods such as adult learning skills, and available resources –

 

Conducting literature reviews for program planning and evaluation. Design and prepare reports, grant updates, literature reviews related to health education

 

Requirements Include

 

− Knowledge of principles and practices of public health education

 

− Knowledge of training theory and methods and group dynamics

 

− Knowledge of community organizations

 

− Knowledge of public health agencies and their services

 

− Knowledge functions of the human body and of environmental, mental, and social problems

 

− Knowledge of common acute and chronic health problem

 

− Knowledge of infectious disease transmission and prevention

 

− Knowledge of continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Lean methodologies

 

− Effective verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills

 

− Interpreting and promoting public health issues to groups and individuals

 

− Using initiative and resourcefulness in gathering and compiling data and composing articles and presentations on public health topics
