We are seeking an experienced candidate, preferred PhD or MD, to provide non-clinical microbiology support for late stage product development, product registration, and life-cycle management for antibacterial therapeutics.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated the capacity to provide leadership and strategic direction for the assessment and positioning of the primary pharmacology attributes for antibacterial drugs. Candidate will have in-depth experience on the mechanism of action of anti-infective agents as well as diagnostic tests enabling patient enrollment, assessing clinical response, and detection of resistance mechanisms. The successful candidate will be the primary interface between the Anti-infective Basic Research group and Product Development teams as well as other functions in the Merck Research Labs (MRL) and the Global Human Health (GHH) commercial organization.
The position will be responsible for ensuring that key data required to support the registration and marketing of anti-infective agents are available and documented in a regulated environment. The Candidate will be expected to establish effective interactions with Clinical, Regulatory, Bioinformatics and Statistical Data managers in addition to establishment of key external collaborations and partnerships, including key scientific leaders, commercial diagnostic companies, and guidelines committees to ensure that data and capabilities are secured for supporting product registration, labeling, commercialization, and post-approval support.
• MS degree in a Biological Sciences or related discipline with a minimum of 10 years of experience in industry and or academia.
• Preferred: MD or PhD
• Must have strong communication and presentation skills
• Prior experience with drug development
• Successful track record with registrations
• Able to publish key literature references in support of the Merck Anti-Infective product portfolio
• Anti-Bacterial Product Registration experience
