The UC Water Security and Sustainability Research Initiative (UC Water) invites applications for a postdoctoral research position. The successful candidate will use and synthesize existing data in and around the primary UC Water focus areas to better understand the hydrologic, institutional and economic controls and linkages between headwaters sources of water and downstream groundwater and agriculture in California. The specific research focus could include linking geospatial, remotely sensed and in-situ water-balance datasets with demand and water-resources decision making; evaluating linkages between water law and groundwater recharge; improving climate resiliency of water resources; or other topics. The ideal candidate will have a strong publication record relevant to California water resources. Demonstrated experience in linking science, engineering and policy data will be important. Experience with appropriate modeling tools is also an asset.
Required qualifications include: A Ph.D. in a relevant area (Water Resource/Hydrology); well-developed data analysis and/or modeling skills as demonstrated per publication record; and excellent written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
