The Health Resources and Service Administration (HRSA) within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announces a public meeting of the Advisory Committee on Heritable Disorders in Newborns and Children (ACHDNC).

The meeting agenda will include a final evidence-based review report on the spinal muscular atrophy condition nomination for possible inclusion on the Recommended Uniform Screening Panel. Following this report, the ACHDNC expects to vote on whether to recommend adding SMA to the RUSP to the Secretary of HHS. The agenda will also include presentation of a document on cutoff determinations and risk assessment methods used for dried bloodspot newborn screening. The Committee expects to vote on whether to support this document. The ACHDNC members will also consider a report on Quality Measures in Newborn Screening from the Follow up and Treatment Workgroup.

Members of the public may attend in person. An agenda will be available two days prior to the meeting. More information is available via the original Federal Register notice and an updated notice.
