HR 820 and the equivalent S 292, the Childhood Cancer STAR (Survivorship, Treatment, Access, and Research) Act of 2017, contain provisions to direct research efforts toward pediatric cancers. Of note, the Act would direct the National Institutes of Health to offer grants for collecting biospecimens from children with varying cancers. Biospecimens include tumor tissue, blood, DNA, RNA, and familial DNA, among others.
